Working on the bathrooms now

The big old awful garden tub is gone

it has been replaced with a new 32" x 60" shower. The window is also gone. New walls surround the shower, This gave us enough room to actually put a toilet in this bathroom, We have also installed a vent fan,

The old sink and cabinet is gone also
it is being replaced with a new cabinet and porcelain sink with a medicine cabinet and light above it.

The baths of course will have new vinyl flooring.
By doing this it allowed us to take the one big bathroom that had once been two back to a bath and a half (one coming off master bedroom will only have sink and toilet.
Will follow up with pictures when done.

House

We have now gutted the big unorganized bathroom that was originally two when house was built and are turning it into bath and half bath. We have it gutted and Don is installing new shower stall where someone had put a big garden tub that did not work properly and was to high to climb in and out of.

House

When we arrived home we immediately went back to work on the house.

When we bought it the kitchen looked like this -

It now looks like this -

We still have to lay flooring, install coffee bar at the window and buy a full size fridge. We bought laminate flooring for the whole house except bathrooms but want to wait and install it after all construction is done to avoid scratching,

I especially love my island I have always wanted one, My built in spice rack and wine rack are also features special to me,

Summer 2014

We had an absolutely fantastic summer visiting with friends and family in Alaska and in Vancouver, WA.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The trip home however was not so great layovers and vehicle repairs we had to lay over in Fort Nelson for the holiday to have tires repaired then we had to lay over in Prince George for 5 days and have a new converter and flywheel put in truck. HOWEVER  the trip was full of beautiful scenery, nice weather and the Canadians were friendly and helpful. The guy that owned the shop where the truck repairs were done kept our freezer plugged in the whole time so we did not loose any of our fish.,

We arrived home on Sept 17th to temps still in the nineties.

Thank you to all who helped make our summer so wonderful.

The last stop before heading up the haul road for Prudoe Bay

Alaskan Summer

Well our Alaskan Summer is on the wind down. We arrived in Sterling Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula on June 22 and departed Aug 26th. We stayed at the home of Glynn,
Terry
and Molly Brown.
The hospitality was great the Brown's are awesome friends. We did some camping on the spit in Homer in their travel trailer and fished for halibut out of Homer.

The Homer Harbor

Don and Glynn went shrimping
out of Whittier and they caught black bass and yellow eye
out of Seward.

Don and Glynn also did some stomping around looking for gold but alas they found none. We did attend a couple of GPAA meetings and learned they are getting a lot of gold right off the beach in Kenai and Nikiski. It is fine stuff so they are taking it to Joe's to run on his magnetic table to separate the gold from the black sand.

We also got to spend time with granddaughter Samantha THAT WAS GREAT!!
Terry, Samantha and I made one day strictly a girls day and took off and went to Anchorage
. We were also able to spend some time with granddaughter Sarah and grandson Ryker. Samantha, Don and I spent the 4th of July in Seward watching the Mt Marathon Race.

Glynn and Terry held their annual summer barbecue so Don got to visit with a lot of the guys he had worked with here.Glynn, Terry, Molly, Don and I spent some wonderful evenings around the redneck fire pit.

Don wants one real bad says he is going to build one as soon as we get home.
